International Yoga Day celebrated

International Yoga Day celebrated

On 21st June 2024, the tenth International Yoga Day was celebrated at Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Sevagram. Faculty, staff and students gathered in the Old Auditorium to derive the mental, spiritual, intellectual and physical benefits from the ancient tradition. Close to 75 people from different health profiles and age groups participated in the event.

Dr A.K. Shukla (Dean, MGIMS) welcomed the gathering with “Yog for Self & Society '' the theme of the celebration of this year’s yog day. 

Dr BS Garg (Secretary, Kasturba Health Society) in his special address, stressed on the importance of doing yoga regularly to achieve the benefits of our traditional ancient modality.  

“The aim of the day is to raise awareness among people about the many benefits of practicing yoga in their life” said both the dignitaries while addressing the participants.

Dr. Anuradha Khandekar (Ayurvedic Physician, Dept. of Int. Med.) led the yog session and Mr. Aniket Deodhe & Sarala Shende (Yoga & Naturopathy Assistants) Demonstrated yoga asanas, and pranayams as per the Common Yoga Protocol given by the Ministry of Ayush. A specified sequence of yoga asanas for 45 minutes followed by deep meditation was carried out.  

 Earlier, two weeks of free Stress Buster Yoga Camp was held in the campus from 1st June 2024 to 20th June 2024. Pamphlets were distributed among the general public to create awareness.Daily morning and evening yoga sessions were hosted for staff and students and people at yoga hut, Arogyadham. More than 35 participants joined the camp every day.
