On July 1st, 2024, Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences and Kasturba Hospital hosted a lively celebration to honor Doctor's Day, a special occasion dedicated to recognizing the invaluable contributions of doctors to society. The event featured an exciting Talent Showcase and heartfelt expressions of gratitude from patients and the non-medical community.
Esteemed dignitaries such as Shri P. L. Tapdiya (President, Kasturba Health Society), Dr. B. S. Garg (Secretary, Kasturba Health Society), Dr. Poonam Shivkumar (Medical Superintendent, Kasturba Hospital), Dr. Ramesh Pandey (Deputy Medical Superintendent, Kasturba Hospital), along with heads of departments, faculty members, residents, interns, administrative staff, and nursing staff, were present on this special occasion.
To showcase the immense gratitude to our doctors, our patients, their relatives, and staff wrote notes of appreciation and heartfelt messages on the ‘Gratitude Wall,’ which was displayed in the New Auditorium. Later, the doctors stepped away from their daily routines and participated in the Talent Show, which was filled with joy, creativity, and camaraderie. The performances included a heartfelt prayer song by Poonam Mam, touching solo songs by residents from the Medicine (Dr Anand) and Gynecology (Dr Richa) departments, a soulful traditional song with guitar by Dr Arul (Resident of Community Medicine), and an energetic group performance by Dr Suman Pandey and the Surgery department. Anupama Mam beautifully presented a gazal and her poem on the life of doctors written during her undergraduate days left everyone in awe of her poetic flair. The audience also enjoyed a harmonious group song by the MS Office team, melodious songs composed and sung by Mr. Prakash and Mangala sister, and a dance performance by sister Mary. These performances truly reflected the diverse and rich talents within the MGIMS family.
Dr. BS Garg felicitated Shri Tapadiya Ji on the occasion of the National Chartered Accountants Day, coinciding with the same day, for his immense contribution in shaping the financial health of our institution right from its very inception. Dr BS Garg shared the significance of Doctor’s Day. Shri Tapdiyaji acknowledged the dedication of doctors and said, “With nurturing hearts and healing hands, MGIMS doctors exude the essence of compassion and dedication, thereby transforming the lives of our patients.”
“It was a day filled with joy, laughter, and a deep sense of community. It provided an opportunity for the doctors to socialize and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere,” said Dr Ramesh Pandey, along with other faculty members.
