The department of Anaesthesiology is equipped to provide anesthesia to patient with diverse spectrum of disorders. The department caters to various specialties like General Surgery, Orthopedics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Plastic and micro-vascular surgery, Neurosurgery and Pediatric Surgery.
The department of Anatomy teaches Anatomy and Genetics to medical students, BSc Nursing students and runs a MD (Anatomy) programme. The department has a well-established cytogenetic laboratory with an expert geneticist and trained technical staff for cytogenetic investigations and genetic counselling.
Chest Medicine Department is providing diagnostic and curative service to patients suffering from various respiratory diseases i.e. tuberculosis, bronchial asthma, COPD and interstitial lung diseases etc. Indoor facility of 20 beds is available for both male and female patients.
The mission of Department is to create a model for decentralized community health care delivery, to network with other organizations, to conduct and promote research on priority health problems and to develop doctors with a service orientation towards underprivileged communities.
The Department of Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy (Skin & VD), MGIMS, Sevagram became an independent department in July 2003. Earlier it was one of the units under Department of Medicine. The Department is the first of its kind in Vidarbha.
Besides carrying out routine post mortems, the department runs a clinical toxicology laboratory that detects the chemical compound in body fluids in patients admitted with deliberate or accidental poisoning.
The department care for about 100,000 outpatients and 10,000 inpatients every year. A 26-bedded ICU offers high-quality, cost-effective care to seriously sick patients with a wide spectrum of medical disorders. The four wards in the department house 192 inpatients.
The department acquired independent status on 16 August 1981, and since then it has developed into an important specialty providing diagnostic, research and teaching facilities in Microbiology.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGY) believes in providing quality services with a humane
touch to all the rural and urban women visiting the outdoor and indoor sections. It has 90 teaching beds and 60
service beds.
The Department of Ophthalmology has the mission to combat eye disease and to reduce the prevalence of
blindness through a scientific approach by providing equitable, excellent and efficient eye care to the people and training to medical students, residents and specialists.
Orthopedic surgeons in the department perform a wide spectrum of diagnostic procedures and operations. The department has recently introduced knee and hip joint replacement surgery, arthroscopy and spine surgery at very low costs.
The ENT department offers routine diagnostic services; runs specialty Clinics (allergy, tumor, audiology and vertigo) and has facilities for evaluation and treatment of speech disorders.
